1. Orange

Old Towne Orange has been a popular gathering place for city of Orange residents and visitors for over a century. Old Towne Orange is home to dozens of antique and collectibles shops, art galleries, coffee houses and restaurants. Old Towne Orange contains the largest Nationally Registered Historic District in California and also includes Chapman University, the Hilbert Museum of California Art, Orange City Hall and the Orange Public Library & History Center.
“What makes Old Towne Orange special is the strong sense of community that exists between residents, visitors, merchants and local organizations,” said Pattie Córdova, chief executive officer of the Orange Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.

2. Fullerton

Sidewalk cafes, specialty restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and upscale apartments are filling up downtown Fullerton, thanks to 20 years of revitalization that have transformed this area into a social gathering place as well as a destination for businesses and housing.

Downtown Fullerton offers a rustic old town atmosphere with over 70 historic buildings, shade trees, decorative walkways and free parking. Downtown Fullerton also is a cultural and transportation hub as it is home to Museum Center, the Downtown Plaza and Plummer Auditorium. The downtown’s growing Fullerton Transportation Center serves more than 350,000 passengers every year and includes Metrolink service.
Signature events in Downtown Fullerton include “First Night,” the city’s annual family-friendly New Year’s Eve party; the Fullerton Night Market (April through October) with farm-fresh produce, flowers, fresh-baked breads, live entertainment, outdoor beer garden, arts, crafts and activities for children; and the Winter Market in December which features crafters, vendors, entertainment and an early visit from Santa.
3. Santa Ana

Santa Ana’s downtown is the cultural heart of the city and one of Orange County’s most authentic destinations. From its vibrant murals and historic architecture to its galleries, diverse dining and events, there’s creativity around every corner.

Among the must-see historic spots include the Old Orange County Courthouse (circa 1901) and the Santora Building, a 1929 Spanish Colonial Revival building that now houses art studios and galleries. Downtown Santa Ana also is home to coffee houses, restaurants and bars offering eclectic food and drinks representing many cultures.
