Tight ends David Njoku (knee) and Charlie Kolar (forearm) were hurt in the Chargers’ 26-14 loss to the Raiders that dropped them to 0-2 to start the season. The Chargers are set to place Njoku and Kolar on injured reserve, which would require them to miss at least four games.

Rucci has a connection to Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Rucci signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin in 2024, while McDaniel was Miami’s head coach. Rucci played four games last season with the Dolphins.
