A fiery chicken sandwich, pumpkin cheesecake and a photogenic iced matcha are among the items on Lazy Dog Restaurants’ fall menu, launching on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Lazy Dog is a casual restaurant chain based in Newport Beach. It serves a wide range of comfort foods and, as its name suggests, it’s dog-friendly. Pets are welcome on its patios.
Executive chef Gabriel Caliendo creates two seasonal menus, fall and spring, in a test kitchen at the chain’s Brea restaurant. It’s outside the Brea Mall at 240 S. State College Blvd.
There are seven new dishes on the fall menu from starters to dessert.
Among them are Hot Honey Black + Blue Flatbread with blackened chicken, blue cheese crumbles and bacon, starting at $11.95.
Panko-Crusted Crab Cakes are served with an arugula and grapefruit salad and start at $29.75.
Spicy Sausage + Burrata Rigatoni features a cream sauce made with Calabrian chilis and comes with garlic bread, starting at $23.25.
Lomo Saltado is pork tenderloin with peppers, onions, tomatoes and fries tossed in a soy-cuminsauce and served on rice, starting at $22.95.

A Carolina Reaper Fried Chicken Sandwich features a battered chicken breast topped with onion straws coleslaw. It comes with fries starting at $18.95 on the regular menu, but it’s also offered for $9 on the happy hours menu.
Wagyu Beef + Bison Chili with cornbread fries starts at $9.25 for a cup.
A Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake topped with salted caramel sauce and pumpkin seeds starts at $7.95
Lazy Dog also has an ambitious drink program, and the fall menu includes three cocktails: a colorful Sour Apple Sloshie, a Blood Orange Margarita and Paper Plane, made with High West Bourbon, Aperol, Montenegro Amaro liqueur and lemon juice. The glass is decorated with a miniature paper plane.
Non-alcoholic choices include a Mango Matcha Tea Iced Latte, made with green tea, mango puree and vanilla cream, and a Salted Caramel Cold Brew. Both are served in tall mugs and topped with a mountain of whipped cream.
Lazy Dog’s take-home options include TV Dinners, packaged in tins like the frozen meals of the 1950s. Three-Cheese Baked Rigatoni with garlic butter broccoli and strawberry butter cake for dessert have been added to the lineup. Meals cost around $11.
