Disneyland took the precautionary step of updating visitors on park operations, safety conditions and road closures as safety teams at the Anaheim theme park continue to monitor a hazmat crisis at a neighboring Orange County aerospace plant.

Disneyland issued an operational update on Sunday, May 24 about the ongoing chemical threat at a Garden Grove industrial facility, according to the Disney Parks Blog.

“There is no direct impact on park operations at this time,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.

The hazmat incident at GKN Aerospace involving a malfunctioning chemical tank threatening to explode and release a toxic cloud has generated intense local, national and international news coverage since the incident began on May 21.
Disneyland is located approximately five miles from the hazmat incident and is not currently inside the mandatory evacuation zone.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure remain open to visitors with no direct impact to the park due to the hazmat emergency.

The Disneyland resort is actively monitoring the situation, taking guidance from local authorities and supporting cast members impacted by the evacuation order, according to Disneyland officials.
“The situation remains fluid and we may see road closures and minor traffic disruptions,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.

In neighboring Buena Park, Knott’s Berry Farm also remains open for business while monitoring the hazmat crisis.
“The safety and well-being of our guests and team members is a cornerstone of our business,” according to a Knott’s Berry Farm official. “We are working closely with our partners at the Orange County Fire Authority to actively monitor the situation. At this time, the park has not been impacted.”
The Knott’s Berry Farm safety team is trained for emergency responses, which includes moving guests safely and efficiently out of the park.
Orange County Fire Authority crews have stabilized the tank’s temperature in hopes of preventing a potentially catastrophic chemical spill or explosion.
