It’s at The Canopy, a 12-acre shopping center under construction at the Great Park Neighborhoods.

Work is progressing at 7900 Great Park Blvd., according to In-N-Out’s chief operating officer Denny Warnick.

“Having opened our first Irvine restaurant nearly 35 years ago, we’re grateful to have been part of the community and look forward to continuing to serve our customers with our second location in the city,” he wrote in an email.

In-N-Out’s headquarters are in Irvine, at least for the time being. The chain has announced it will be relocating to its hometown, Baldwin Park, and a new hub in Tennessee in the coming years.

“Soon” is likely months in the future. In-N-Out usually first announces its new locations on an “opening soon” page of its website eight to 10 months before the doors open. It sends out news releases on their opening days, one or two days in advance.

The coming soon page currently lists seven locations, none in California.

In-N-Out projects are often in permit pipelines years in advance. In this case, Irvine’s planning commission approved master plans for The Canopy in November 2023.

They included a 3,860 square-foot restaurant with a 500 square-foot patio where the In-N-Out will be. Its drive-thru would have a 33-vehicle capacity, starting with two lanes and narrowing to one at the pickup window.
