Founders’ Park docents have the opportunity to attend training, dress in vintage costumes, participate in open house events, participate in school tours, help with the seed library in the kitchen garden and decorate the buildings for Victorian Christmas Open House.
Founders’ Park features one of the city’s original homes, the 1857 Mother Colony House, and The Woelke-Stoffel House, a historic Queen Anne-style home built in 1894, as well as other buildings and displays that hark back to the city’s agricultural days.

Keeping busy at the library
Anaheim libraries have some great programs coming up:
There is Citizenship Counseling with OCCORD from 1 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 13 at the Central Library, 500 W. Broadway. Call 714-765-1880 for information.
On Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the O.C. Zine Fest 2026 is coming to the Central Library. This is a celebration of independent artists, writers, designers and creators based in Orange County. Visit oczinefest.com for more information.
At Founders’ Park, there will be a Plant and Seed Swap from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 1. Email librarian Nichole Grimes ([email protected]) if you are interested in taking plants or seeds to trade. Call 714-765-6453 for more information.
Also, the Sunkist Branch, 901 S. Sunkist St., is offering a Mexican folk art tin embossing project from 4 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 21.
Remembering Chief Welter
There will be a celebration of life honoring former Anaheim Police Chief John Welter on Aug. 8.
Welter retired in 2013 after having led the Anaheim Police Department for nearly a decade.

The celebration of life will be 3 to 4 p.m. at Mission Hills United Church of Christ in San Diego. There will be a reception following the service. Rsvp to Erika Martin at 619-889-8720.
Sustainable landscape workshop offered
A workshop to learn about sustainable landscaping is scheduled for Aug. 8.
Learn about turf removal and turf conversion techniques, climate-appropriate plants, and more.
The workshop will be 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Sustainability Education Center, 888 S. Rose Place. Call city of Anaheim Public Utilities for more information.
Still opportunities to hear some music
The 2026 Concerts in the Park series plays on in Anaheim.
The Concerts in the Canyon at Ronald Reagan Park has its last concert tonight, July 30.
And, then Pearson Park Amphitheatre concerts will be July 25, Aug. 1, Aug. 8, Aug. 15 and Aug. 22.
With funding help from Disneyland, the concerts are free.
Lots to do at Packing District, promenade
The Anaheim Packing District is hosting World Taste, an event “connecting people through food” from 5 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 11.
Tickets are being sold online now for the sixth annual event.
Also on Aug. 11 will be D23 Night at the food hall, with a DJ, trivia and more.

There are also monthly events on the Center Street Promenade:
First Sunday of the month hosts Cars & Coffee Classics from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Downtown Anaheim Farmers’ Market is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekly on Thursdays.
Last Sunday of each month is the Shop Small soiree from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
