Anaheim marked a fouth straight day of record heat on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Burbank also dethroned a record, reaching 101 degrees to replace a record temperature of 100 degrees set in 1964, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Kristan Lund.

A weekend cool-down is on the way, both Lund and Gonsalves said. Gonsalves said Orange County should expect a noticeable temperature decrease on Friday, with inland areas to follow during the weekend.

“Slowly but surely the marine layer will make a return right to the coast and it will extend the lower temperatures a little further inland,” Gonsalves said.

Sunday and Monday might bring intermittent rain to areas across Southern California, Gonsalves said. There is also a chance of coastal flooding and high surf over the weekend, according to Lund.
