Players on Bishop Amat’s football team posted a photo on social media this month that seemed to threaten a player for a rival school, and now Bishop Amat is facing questions about punishment for the players involved.

Bishop Amat athletic director Tish Price and head football coach Kory Minor confirmed this week that players on the team were involved in the social media post.
The post included a threat to harm a player for St. Paul, which hosts Bishop Amat in the season opener for both teams Friday at 7 p.m.
The social media post showed multiple Bishop Amat football players dressed in team uniforms in a classroom and posing for pictures. On a white board were profanity-laced messages directed at the St. Paul football team, including one aimed at a player for St. Paul.
The messages were were shared on Instagram before being taken down. The Southern California Newsgroup has obtained copies of the photos that were used in the social media post.
In one of the photos, two players dressed in Bishop Amat uniforms pose next to the white board with the word “kill” directed at a St. Paul player.

Price and Minor acknowledged the incident but would not comment on whether any disciplinary action was taken or if the players involved would be suspended for Friday’s game.
Price directed all questions regarding the incident to the Los Angeles Archdiocese. The Archdiocese did not respond to several requests seeking comment.
In a social media post this week, the Los Angeles Times’ Eric Sondheimer reported that parents of the St. Paul football player that the comment was directed at were seeking action from Bishop Amat for bullying and targeting their son on social media.
The father of the St. Paul player did not respond to a request from SCNG for a comment.
St. Paul football coach Austin Montoya, who is in his first season as the team’s coach, would not comment on the incident.
