We are just getting over America’s 250th anniversary, and right on our heels is the Brea Gallery’s newest art exhibition, “A Look to the Future: America at 350.”

The exhibit is presented in collaboration with Thinkspace Projects, a renowned Los Angeles art gallery.
The “America at 350” exhibit includes works of art from 102 artists, said Gallery Director Katie Chidester.

The exhibit opens Saturday, July 25 and there is a 4 p.m.private reception. Besides getting the first look at the exhibit, you’ll meet some of the artists, have the first opportunity to purchase original art plus enjoy live entertainment and complimentary refreshments. And it is all for $15 per person, but online ticket sales end July 24. However, if you are a Brea Gallery member, you get two complimentary tickets. Membership is $50 annually and includes lots of perks.
If you are willing to wait until 5:01 p.m. on July 25, you can view the exhibit for free, if you are a Brea resident. Admission is only $3 for nonresidents and nonresidents who are seniors, military or students with valid ID pay $2.
I bet many of the artists will stick around after the preview, ready to discuss their art with you and their artistic take on life in 2126.
What would America be like at 350? Would AI morph into something else? What will our climate, government, education and humans be like 100 years from now? Will we commute via mini space ships? Most importantly, will we finally really live in peace?

Also located in Brea’s civic center are the police and fire department headquarters. A good time to check them both out is during National Night Out on Aug. 4. The department will be having an event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Birch Street in Brea Downtown.
This is your chance to see the latest police and fire equipment up close, meet our cops and fire personnel and learn more about what both departments are doing to keep us all safe.
You and your kids can check out the SWAT squad and their truck and equipment. Also check out the police drones and meet the Drone team. The K-9 demonstrations will show us that those pooches mean business.
Brea firefighters will be there with their big ladder truck for you to check out. Learn about the truck and about the city’s other firefighting equipment, information on safety and wildfires. Then stop by the CERT, Community Emergency Response Team, booth and find out how you can take the free training and join the CERT team.
Chief Daniel Mielke will also be participating in Motorhome Madness, a demolition derby that helps support Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC. It happens during the OC Fair at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 in the Action Sports Arena at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

Lots to do and see at the Brea Gallery and at National Night Out. And then Brea Fest happens on Aug. 7, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Brea Civic and Cultural Center. Free admission, free entertainment. Buy $4 tickets for sips and tastes from leading restaurants.
