Mr. A.P. ($3.80), who ran second to Ted Noffey in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar last October for trainer Vladimir Cerin, won the Tokyo City Cup by nearly two lengths over Lyell’s Song after Jaramillo swung him into a clear lane along the rail in the stretch of the 1-mile race.

Pura Vida Princesa ($24.40), off the board in two previous tries at the stakes level for Doug O’Neill, was sent straight to the lead by Jaramillo on the turf hillside in the about-6-½-furlong Senator Ken Maddy Stakes for fillies and mares and won by a length with Rethink second.

Jaramillo had three wins in all Saturday, and Juan Hernandez had two, putting them in a 17-17 tie with four racing days to go in the Santa Anita autumn meet. Kazushi Kimura and Joel Rosario have 14 each.

With upsets in the pick-six sequence by Unusualexis ($14), Pura Vida Princesa, The Warden ($32.80) and Weho ($25.40), nobody had a perfect ticket and 70% of the money wagered carried over for the second day in a row. That puts an extra $109,519 in the pool for Sunday’s races 4-9.
