Segerstrom blocked a potential game-tying extra point in the final two minutes of the game to beat Irvine 21-20 in a Foxtrot League game Friday at Segerstrom High.

Adrian Cervantes ran for a go-ahead touchdown for Segerstrom (3-3, 1-0) with 2:20 remaining in the game.

Eddie Anuu led the Jaguars in rushing with over 140 yards with a touchdown. Noah Martinez threw a touchdown pass to Cervantes, who also had an interception on defense. Joseph Garcia had an interception which set up Martinez’s touchdown pass.

Seamus Hoffman ran for a touchdown in the final minutes for Irvine (4-2, 0-1) before the game-tying extra point was blocked.

William Bowman threw a touchdown pass to Enzo Cahoon and ran for a touchdown.

Segerstrom will play Orange on the road next Friday, Oct. 9.

In the Epsilon League:

Aliso Niguel 23, Tesoro 10: Aliso Niguel forced three turnovers and recovered a muffed punt in a home win over Tesoro.

Jamison Wilkes forced a fumble for Aliso Niguel (2-4, 1-0) and Ethan Morehouse had two fumble recoveries. Nick Bisaccia had an interception he returned 50 yards.

Aiden Sidenstecker had two touchdown passes for the Wolverines and Andoni Galpin had two touchdown receptions. Brody Blasing had a touchdown reception and threw a touchdown pass in his first game back from injury this season. Aliso Niguel’s touchdowns were from 85, 70 and 34 yards out.

Brody Bevan ran for a touchdown for Tesoro (1-5, 0-1) and Shady Yowkeem made a field goal. Emmett Owens ran for 135 yards and had six tackles for the Titans. It was the first time Aliso Niguel had beaten Tesoro since 2006.

Newport Harbor 48, Foothill 7: Newport Harbor had 537 yards of total offense and scored the first 41 points of the game in a rout of Foothill.

Jordan Spigarelli completed 12 of 14 passes for 261 yards with a pair of touchdowns for Newport Harbor (4-2, 1-0). Shane McKibbin had 140 yards receiving on just three catches with a touchdown. Ryan Palmer had two touchdown catches Ethan Ekedal led the Sailors with 98 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Aidan Feraj had a touchdown run for Foothill (2-4, 0-1), who was held to just 96 yards of total offense.

In the Lambda League:

Fountain Valley 20, Sonora 14: Fountain Valley handed Sonora its first loss of the season and shut out the Raiders in the second half.

Isaac Combs threw for 131 yards with a touchdown and ran for 160 yards with a touchdown. Raymond Dillon Jr. caught six passes for 115 yards with a score.

It was the first league win for Fountain Valley (3-3, 1-0) since 2018.

In the Omicron League:

Los Amigos 28, Garden Grove 7: Mytrell Smith threw two touchdown passes and ran for another for Los Amigos.

Smith threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Alexis Marcelo-Chamu and a 6-yard touchdown pass to Dennis Smith. Dennis Smith also returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown for Los Amigos (5-1, 1-0).

Calvin Keovphan threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Garcia for Garden Grove (0-6, 0-1).

In the Tango League:

Bolsa Grande 31, Magnolia 8: Micheal Nguyen threw for 247 yards with a touchdown for Bolsa Grande in a win over Magnolia.

Slater Espinoza caught 10 passes for 137 yards with a touchdown for Bolsa Grande (5-2, 4-1). Anthony Bell ran for 106 yards with a touchdown and Daymien Sanchez ran for 51 with a score.

Football: Mission Viejo, Capistrano Valley and Crean Lutheran win league battles

In the Iota League

Cypress 14, Pacifica 11: Centurions quarterback Justin Hall threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Matt Rodriguez with three minutes remaining in the game to give Cypress (5-1, 1-0) a close win over the Mariners (5-1, 0-1).

Hall also threw a touchdown pass to Ian Do.

Laguna Hills 48, Kennedy 14: Jaxson Vanderbeek completed 15 of 23 passes for 203 yards and four touchdowns for the Hawks (5-1, 1-0).

Nate Medina had six receptions for 61 yards. Merrick Marquis contributed three receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

Marina 25, Northwood 14: Quarterback Maverick Coverick threw two touchdown passes to Carson Hunnicutt and Ben Ramos rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on 36 carries for the Vikings (3-3, 1-0).

Coverick completed 18 of 25 passes for 218 yards. Hunnicutt finished with eight catches for 100 yards.

Vikings safety Nathan Kirk led the defensive effort.

In the Kappa League

Portola 26, Sunny Hills 6: Gavin Morrell rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns and Jamal Abdelkarim had two touchdown receptions for the Bulldogs (5-1, 1-0).

Bulldogs quarterback Orion Suttle threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns.

Fullerton 28, Esperanza 20: Cyrus Aviles rushed for 275 yards and two touchdowns for the Red Hawks (4-2, 1-0). He also had eight tackles.

Evan Tellez-Soria rushed for two touchdowns and had nine tackles. Scott Leflore had an interception and Nate Stephenson and Nate Vejar (11 tackles) also led the defense.

In the Sigma League

Rancho Alamitos 43, Saddleback 0: Ozzy Ramos completed 7 of his 7 passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns over the first 18 minutes. He also rushed for a touchdown for the Vaqueros (6-0, 1-0).

Ocean View 20, Costa Mesa 3: Trevor Vaivao rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries for the victorious Seahawks (5-1, 1-0).

Vaivao also blocked a field-goal attempt that Elijah Stokley returned for 79 yards and a touchdown. Vaivao has blocked four extra-point efforts. Stokley has scored two touchdowns on interception returns and two touchdowns on fumble returns.
