Like art and culture? Then check out the free tours of the sprawling Segerstrom Center for the Arts complex in Costa Mesa. These tours, available from Sept. 5 to Oct. 17, are led by trained docents who’ll guide you through the different venues that make up this theatrical and concert complex.

The 10 a.m. walking tours are for people ages 7 and over and include indoor and outdoor spaces, depending on availability. They do not include the South Coast Repertory or the Orange County Museum of Art next door, though OCMA is free and interesting to visit on its own.

The land on which the center is built was originally developed as lima bean fields farmed by the Segerstrom family, who had emigrated from Sweden in 1898. Later, the family went into real estate development and ultimately donated the original five-acre parcel and funds to help build the new center. It now consists of six performance venues, including Segerstrom Hall, Segerstrom Concert Hall and the Samueli Theater. The tour’s venues depend on performance and rehearsal schedules.
