One of Orange County football’s most closely followed college recruiting stories reached an important juncture on Thursday.
Huntington Beach quarterback Brady Edmunds reaffirmed his commitment to Ohio State, denying a strong push by UCLA among others.
“I am shutting down my recruitment,” Edmunds posted on X. “I’m grateful to all the programs that showed interest in me but Columbus is home. Looking forward to competing and helping bring another national championship to the state of Ohio.”

In early June, Edmunds made his first official recruiting visit to UCLA. The Elite 11 finalist officially visited Ohio State later in the month.
The Bruins’ pursuit of Edmunds included a personal video message from former UCLA quarterback and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman.
The early signing period for Class of 2027 football recruits begins on Dec. 2.
Last season, Edmunds completed 68 percent of his passes for 2,724 yards and 32 touchdowns. He earned co-offensive player of the year in the Epsilon League. In 2024, he was selected first-team All-County as a sophomore.
