A 60-year-old Mission Viejo woman died after she was struck by a vehicle Saturday night, Aug. 8, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.

Deputies responded around 9:20 p.m. to the area of Pacific Crest and Glenwood drives in Mission Viejo after receiving a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

They found Mission Viejo resident Duo Ying Liang on the ground with severe injuries, authorities said. Orange County Fire Authority personnel took her to a hospital, where she died from her injuries the following day.

The driver, Caleb Thomas Baeza, 18, of Mission Viejo, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into the Orange County Jail.
