The 3,153-square-foot contemporary compound sits behind a gated entry on nearly half an acre. Complete with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, the 1947 house and its deep, parklike grounds offer what listing agent Thomas Atamian of Coldwell Banker Realty calls “an amazing sense of privacy and tranquility” due to the mature hedging that hides it from the street.

That dense foliage is not the only thing shrouding this property.

Coldwell Banker Realty pitched the property as Johnson’s home, but public records omit his name. Instead, PropertyShark.com shows that The Poppy Lou Trust holds the title, acquiring it for $2.215 million in April 2017.

The previous owner hired Santa Monica-based architect Aleks Istanbullu to extensively remodel the home in 2004, reimagining it with clean lines, open space and a connection to the landscape. Its linear layout extends deep into the lot, using glass walls to draw in natural light and set the warm wood accents aglow.

A fireplace surrounded by reproduction artisan tiles to match the home’s aesthetic anchors the living room, which flows into the formal dining room across wide-plank hardwood floors.

In the kitchen, custom vertical-grain wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and a wraparound corner bar with seating for four open to a casual dining area.

The primary suite sits under a vaulted ceiling with a fireplace and a walk-in closet that once served as the creative space for Johnson’s comedy podcast with Gareth Reynolds, “We’re Here to Help,” Atamian said.

Newly installed custom cabinetry by Infinite Designs Inc. now lines the space.

The suite also includes a primary bathroom, where Italian blue glass mosaic tile wraps the soaking tub and the separate shower from floor to ceiling near a large corner picture window.

Off the primary suite, there’s a sunroom with a sauna.

Atamian said the fourth bedroom was a den, now fully permitted and outfitted with custom cabinetry.

A lap pool framed by lounging areas and a towering wall of Podocarpus hedging anchors the grounds, which also host two detached structures used as an office and a wellness space.

At the back of the property is a garden with a walking path, raised beds and a patio shaded by trees. A green and gold National Wildlife Federation sign designates it a Certified Wildlife Habitat.

The backyard doubles as a thriving California native garden and mini orchard, with lemon, orange, avocado and persimmon trees. Red berry-bearing toyon, fragrant Bee’s Bliss sage and violet blooms of Woolly bluecurls grow alongside large, showy Matilija poppies, fountains of deer grass and more.

Johnson, 48, remains best known for the hit Fox series “New Girl,” but he has also built a successful voice-acting career playing Peter B. Parker, an alternate-universe Spider-Man, in the Oscar-winning animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and its sequels.

On the big screen, he appeared in “Let’s Be Cops,” “Jurassic World” and “The Dink.” He will next star in the upcoming NBC comedy series “Sunset P.I.,” debuting in February 2027.
