FOXTROT LEAGUE PREVIEW
The Foxtrot League is a six-team football league that includes Beckman, El Dorado, El Toro, Irvine, Orange and Segerstrom.
BECKMAN
What to expect: The reigning CIF-SS Division 8 champion climbs three leagues in the Orange County Football Conference from the Lambda League. The Patriots went 5-0 in the league last season to claim their second consecutive Lambda League title. Coach Marcello Giuliano, who was selected Orange County coach of the year last season, returns three starters on offense and five on defense. The defense could be a strength with the return of linebacker Zak Hazboun (6-2, 195) and cornerback Xavier Musselman-Cano. Hazboun, a first-team all-league selection last season, is poised to be a four-year starter and finished fourth on the team last season with 82 tackles. He also plays tight end. Musselman-Cano, who also was named first-team all-league, led Orange County with nine interceptions last season. The defense also returns senior linemen Nathan Tuttle and Skyeler Knight, who will also play on offense. Colin Singh is the running back to watch after the graduation of All-County selection Makhi Czaykowski (1,920 yards). The senior started at defensive back the past two season. Beckman looks strong on special teams with Aiden Wimberly, one of the best kickers and punters in the county.
EL DORADO
What to expect: The Golden Hawks drop one league in the Orange County Football Conference after being in the Epsilon League. El Dorado finished 4-6 last season, including 1-4 in league. The Golden Hawks missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year. The team’s strength will be experience with nine returning starters on each side of the ball. The offense is led by the duo of junior quarterback Hudson Shaddow and senior receiver Justin Karg. Last season, Shaddow passed for 1,385 yards and 14 TDs. Karg had 47 catches for 638 yards and nine TDs en route to first-team all-league honors. Senior Mason Shackleton will support Karg at wide receiver and also plays defensive back. The offensive line looks imposing with senior tackle Levi Marshall (6-6, 315). The line also features all-league selection Matix Wood, a senior who also plays defense. Linebacker Alonzo Anguiano will help stabilize the defense. The senior finished second in tackles last season with 93 to make first-team all-league. Two-way players Darius Selway and Max Hester are other players to watch. Selway, a junior who plays running back/defensive back, had a team-high three interceptions last season. He made second-team all-league. Hester is a sophomore running back/linebacker.
EL TORO
What to expect: The Chargers climb one league in the Orange County Football Conference after being in the Iota League. In 2025, they finished 6-5, including 4-1 in the Iota League. El Toro returns three starters on offense and four on defense. The team’s strength is at wide receiver. Matthew Arroyo and Bryce Thacker return as the top receivers. Last fall, the seniors combined for 107 catches for 1,215 yards and 15 TDs. Arroyo had 49 receptions for 607 yards and six TDs to make first-team all-league. Senior Noah Cisneros (6-1, 175), and juniors Connor White (5-10, 160) and Brayden Stawicki (5-10, 160) round out a deep cast of receivers. El Toro also features an all-league linemen in Hudson George (5-11, 255), who delivered a physical presence at left guard last season. Sophomores Jaxson Algaze and Maddux Danaher are competing at quarterback after the transfer of Wyatt Nucci to Mira Costa. Algaze is a transfer from Crean Lutheran. Sophomore running back Abel Gherasim is a transfer from Capistrano Valley to watch. He rushed for 521 yards last season. On defense, senior all-league linebacker Cuatro Schindele finished fourth in tackles last season for El Toro with 76. Arroyo ranked fifth with 59 tackles. Junior Makade Romo (6-0, 185) is another two-way player to watch at running back/linebacker.

IRVINE
What to expect: The Vaqueros join El Toro in rising from the Iota League in the Orange County Football Conference. Irvine went 9-4 last season, including 3-2 in league. The Vaqueros lost to Brea Olinda in the Division 8 semifinals. Irvine features a standout lineman, along with several other seniors to watch. Kota Seshimo (6-5, 305) is senior two-way lineman committed to Fresno State. The team also looks strong at the skill positions. They count wide receivers Enzo Cahoon and Kyle Fogarty, and running back Seamus Hoffman among their top seniors. Hoffman is a 1,000-yard rushing candidate while Cahoon and Fogarty emerged as targets last season. Cahoon and Fogarty also play defensive end. Ronin Scheinblum and Will Bowman will split the quarterback duties, coach Tom Ricci said. The defense also is led by lineman Mason Pruce, middle linebacker Will Walters and defensive back Dylan Nguyen. Walters and Seshimo were first-team all-league last season. Seamus made second-team all-league last season after rushing for 850 yards.
ORANGE
What to expect: The Panthers remain in the Foxtrot League after posting a 6-5 overall record last season. They went 3-2 in Foxtrot to finish a combined 5-5 in the league the past two seasons. The team is led by dual-threat quarterback Star Thomas III and several wide receivers. Thomas, a junior, ranks as one of Orange County’s best passers after tallying a county-leading 4,146 yards of total offense in ’25. The Foxtrot League co-MVP passed for 3,332 yards and 27 TDs and rushed for 814 yards and six scores. His deep group of receivers includes Mission Viejo transfer KJ Woodbury and returners Malahki Allen, Dylan Stone and Adam Maldonado. Woodbury made first-team All-Alpha League last season while Allen, Stone and Maldonado each earned first-team All-Foxtrot League honors. All four wideouts had at least 40 catches. The defensive line also looks like a strength. Juniors Sebastian Castro and Anthony Randle combined for 13 sacks last season. Orange also added defensive lineman Jayden Bracamontes from Villa Park. Isaac Harrison, a senior defensive back, returns as the team’s leading tackler. The first-team all-league selection had 88 tackles last season. Offensive lineman Reynaldo Urdenes also made first-team all-league.
SEGERSTROM
What to expect: The Jaguars jump two leagues in the Orange County Football Conference after being in the the Kappa League. They went 5-0 to claim the Kappa title in ’25 and went a combined 9-1 in the league the past two seasons. Segerstrom returns two starters on offense and three on defense. Segerstrom’s strength last season in league was its defense. The Jaguars allowed 63 points in five games for an average of 12.6 points. Linebacker Jullian Hernandez played a key role in the success and returns as the team’s leading tackler. The senior had 85 tackles last season en route to first-team all-league honors. Hernandez also plays tight end and leads several seniors who also play both ways. The list includes lineman Alejandro Duarte, running back/outside linebacker Joseph Garcia and running back/free safety Joshua Garcia. Junior Adrian Cervantes is another running back/defensive back to look out for. Senior Noah Martinez returns at quarterback. He made second-team all-league last season with Duarte and Joshua Garcia.
