An unplanned power outage in south Orange County was affecting more than 22,000 customers Wednesday evening.

Officials with San Diego Gas and Electric posted on their website that the outage was affecting people in a swath of the county near the coast that included parts of south Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point. and San Clemente. The outage, affecting roughly 22,500 customers, began around 8:50 p.m.

SDGE said it expected service to be restored by 11:30 p.m.

No cause for the outage was provided.
