Sena, from Marriott’s Autograph Collection, is expected to open in 2029, with interiors designed by Rockwell Group.

Managed by Sage Hospitality Group, the hotel will include a restaurant by a celebrity chef and at least 300 rooms.

The hotel exterior was designed by architecture and landscape architecture teams at WATG (Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo).

The open space at Sena will feature a circular lobby bar with views of Honda Center, South Plaza and OCVibe’s other gathering spaces.

“We were inspired by Anaheim’s history of imagination and innovation, and we designed SENA around that spirit,” said David Rockwell, founder and president of Rockwell Group.

The complex — under construction where Katella Avenue meets the 57 freeway — will debut in March 2027 a music venue with room for 5,000 concert-goers. A food hall called Katella Commons is also among the new attractions that will open at the 100-acre, $4 billion entertainment, office and residential development.

29 units in Anaheim for $8.5 million

The 29-unit Empire Apartments in Anaheim sold Sept. 18 for $8.5 million, or $293,103 per unit.

Built in 1964, the complex at 1215 S. Empire St. features 29 apartments spanning 30,311 rentable square feet on nearly an acre of land.

The property consists of four one-bedroom, one-bath units, eight two-bedroom, one-bath units and 17 two-bedroom, 1.5-bath townhome units.

The all-cash sale closed after a 26-day escrow, according to Tyler Leeson, executive managing director of investments at Marcus & Millichap. “It also represents the first closing from a broader Anaheim-area multifamily portfolio the seller is repositioning as part of a 1031 exchange strategy into apartment properties elsewhere in Orange County.”

The seller was a family that had owned the property for more than 30 years, according to the brokerage. A large property management company was the buyer.

The buyer plans to modernize unit interiors as tenant exit in order to “achieve market rents,” Marcus & Millichap said.

Another Anaheim complex snags $7.1M

Marcus & Millichap brokered another all-cash Anaheim apartment sale, this time the Nine-Eighteen Apartments.

The 32-unit property sold for $7.1 million, or $221,875 per unit.

Built in 1975, the complex at 918 W. Romneya Drive has 32 units in 25,007 rentable square feet on just under an acre. Nine-Eighteen features 15 one-bedroom, one-bath units, 16 one-bedroom, one-bath town house units and one two-bedroom, one-bath townhome unit. Amenities include gated access, covered parking, on-site laundry, a spa and landscaped common areas.

The brokerage represented the buyer and seller.

“The buyer was particularly drawn to the property’s significant operational upside, location adjacent to one of their existing apartment buildings and its physical appeal,” said Joe Berkson, a senior managing director of investments at Marcus & Millichap. “The acquisition complements the buyer’s existing holdings and provides an opportunity to enhance income over a long-term hold. This was also the buyer’s first multifamily acquisition since 1993.”

Irvine office building fetches $15.7 million

RiverRock Real Estate Group doubled its money this month when it sold the firm’s headquarters in Irvine for $15.7 million.

The company acquired the 22,193-square-foot Class A office building at 2392 Morse Ave. in 2020 for $7.5 million, according to the grant deed provided by PropertyShark.com.

The sale closed Oct. 1, according to Economos DeWolf. The buyer in public documents is listed as 2392 Morse LLC.

The brokerage represented the seller and buyer, with the property going into escrow before it came to market.

The property was “extensively” renovated before it sold, Economos said in a statement.
