USA Water Polo’s Junior Olympics return to Orange County on Saturday with the start of the girls tournaments.
The girls event runs Saturday through Tuesday with several different age-groups and divisions.
The finals in the top divisions will be at Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine.
The Newport Beach 18’s and Mission 16’s, featuring several high school players from Newport Harbor and JSerra, are seeded first in their respective divisions.

A few of Orange County high school girls will miss the Junior Olympics to represent the U.S. at the under-16 World Championships in Croatia. Those players are: Paige Segesman of Mater Dei, McKenna Mack of Newport Harbor, Natalie Arata of Beckman, Blake Hofley of Orange Lutheran and Catherine Bambury of JSerra.
The boys Junior Olympics run July 23-26 in Orange County.
The finals in the top divisions will be played at Woollett.
Newport Beach and Mission are seeded first and second, respectively, in the boys 18’s.
The Junior Olympics are dubbed the world’s largest water polo tournament.
It’s a busy summer for the Woollett facility. The two-pool complex also is hosting the U.S. swimming nationals (July 28-Aug. 1), U.S. junior nationals (Aug. 3-7) and the Pan Pacific Championships (Aug. 12-15).
