Headed to the OC Fair this week? Here are some things to know.

General information

• Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

• General admission is $13 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and $18 on Fridays and weekends; tickets are $9 every day for children 6-12 and $10 for seniors 65 and older.

• Tickets must be purchased ahead online at ocfair.com. Daily attendance is capped at about 55,000 people and the fair tends to sell out on popular days.

• Parking is $15

• OC Fair Express runs weekends, with direct bus service from the ARTIC station in Anaheim, Fullerton Park-and-Ride, Goldenwest Transportation Center in Huntington Beach,  Irvine Train Station, Laguna Hills Transportation Center and the Santa Ana train station. Things to do

• The fair will celebrate Chicano culture and heritage with an El Pachuco Zoot Suit Fashion Show and Lowrider Exhibit at Plaza Pacifica Stage from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 9.

• The Wimberley Bluegrass Band will perform nightly this week at 8:15 p.m. on the Promenade Stage.

• The fair’s annual 5K is Sunday, Aug. 9, with participants running or walking a route that takes them past the midway, the Centennial Farm and other favorite spots before the crowds show up for the day. Find out about registration at ocfair.com, under the special events tab.

• Taste test fair food with the daily $5 deals offered by vendors before 5 p.m.

• There is a nightly eating contest if you think you have the chops. It takes place at 7 p.m. on the OC Promenade Stage.

• Aug. 6: Mini Car Demolition Derby at 7:30 p.m.

• Aug. 7: Team Mini Car Demolition Derby at 7:30 p.m.

• Aug. 8: Damsels of Destruction Demolition Derby at 7:30 p.m.

• Aug. 9: Orange Crush Demolition Derby at 7:30 p.m.

Playing at the Hangar (requires a ticket purchased in advance, but includes fair admission):

• Aug. 5: Queen Nation, A Tribute to the Music of Queen at 8:15 p.m.
