Aug. 26 is International Dog Day – also called National Dog Day – and in addition to pup cups on Starbucks’ secret menu, there are canine freebies out there. Many promotions are partnering with organizations that help animals in need.

Dunkin’: The Massachusetts coffee giant is continuing its partnership with dog toy company BARK to raise funds for Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar: Through Thursday, Aug. 27, the Orange County chain will donate $1 to Pet Partners for every dog meal ordered in-restaurant. Customers will also receive a free dog meal card during the promotion. Dogs are welcome on Lazy Dog patios, and the first 50 at participating locations will receive a free bandana while supplies last on Wednesday. Dog meals are grilled hamburger patties or chicken breasts served with brown rice and vegetables.
